Gravel pit and observation site locations

pitno

Number,3,0

Gravel pit and/or field observation site, given as a number

e.g., 12, 26, 27, 69 (i.e., those values less than 90)

Gravel pit and field observation site - locations gathered from several sources. In places single symbols indicate multiple gravel pits. May be active, inactive, depleted, or reclaimed.

90

Gravel pits identified from a number of sources. These gravel pits were not visited by the author and are therefore not field observation sites.

e.g., 101, 116,138, 175 (i.e., those values greater than 90)

Field observation site at a road cut, natural exposure, excavation. These sites were not plotted on the final map.

pittype

Text, 40

Gravel pit and/or observation site, given as text

Gravel pit with field observation

Gravel pit locations derived from a number of sources, including the Soil Survey of Isanti County, Isanti County Highway Department files, and 1:24000 USGS topographic maps. These sites were visited by the author. These sites correspond to pitno < 90.

Gravel pit

Gravel pit locations from a number of different sources, including the Soil Survey of Isanti County, Isanti County Highway Department files, and 1:24000 USGS topographic maps. For these sites, pitno = 90.

Field observation site

Sites visited by the author. May include road cut, natural exposure, excavation. For these sites, pitno > 100.

obsite

Number,2,0

Numbers ranging from 1 to 75.

Field observation site number. Use this field to relate to the information stored in isanapot.mdb.

drawmap

Text,1

Indication of if the gravel pit location was drawn on the map

Y

The gravel pit was drawn on the map

N

The gravel pit was not drawn on the map because there were several in the same location, so one symbol, not several, was used to represent them. If the site was a field observation site only, the site was not plotted on the map.

gp92bpt3 shapefile

MN/DOT aggregate source locations, based on MN/DOT pit sheets. These sites generally include gravel pits.

dotid

Number,5,0

e.g., 30001, 30008, 30010, 30025, 30034

MN/DOT assigned aggregate source ID. First two digits (i.e., 30) represent the county, the last three digits the source ID.

dotid2

Text,1

e.g., A or B

Where the pits have been further subdivided into parts and mapped on separate pit sheets, MN/DOT differentiated these pits by letter.

dotpit

Text,6

e.g., 30001A, 30001B, 30017, 30031, 30035

MN/DOT assigned aggregate source ID combining the numeric and text parts of the ID.

draw

Text,1

Indication of if the aggregate source location was drawn on the map

Y

The aggregate source location was drawn on the map

N

The aggregate source location was not drawn on the map because there were several aggregate sources in the same location, so one symbol, not several, was used to represent them.
