Natural Resource Guide Overview

Navigation

The Natural Resource Guide is designed to be self-guiding with easy navigation tools. The NRG is designed like a website, using Microsoft's Internet Explorer for the interface. The NRG CD is designed to be viewed at a resolution of at least 600x800 pixels (or roughly 75-80% of the width of your screen). Navigation is similar to that of a book - a "table of contents" is displayed in the main menu on the left side of the webpage in the green box. The guide is designed to be "read" from the top of the main menu to the bottom, browsing the Overview category first and the Resources & Links category last. The Natural Resource Guide content is organized under these seven major categories. Each category contains a series of topics, and some topics contain several subtopics. To view the path followed to reach the current webpage, look to the top of the content area just under the topic heading. Additionally, you can navigate through the main categories at the bottom of each webpage, where the current category is highlighted.

Links

Related themes, documents, and images within the Natural Resource Guide are linked throughout the CD. For users with internet access, links are provided to related external Web sites. All linked items will be displayed in blue underlined text (changing to green after visiting the link), image links will have the notation "Click to Expand" below them, and all image logos link to the associated webpage. Clicking on these items once will bring you to the desired item. Many items are files saved in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format and may take a short time to load.

Project Profiles

You can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of implementation tools when you combine their use with natural resource information. Visit the project profiles for some examples from Minnesota Communities. Anytime you see a manila folder icon titled "Profiles", click on it to learn more about a representative local project.
