"We all have this intimate relationship with drinking water whether we drink it or not, and contaminants in rivers, and reservoirs, and groundwater will enter our bodies one way or the other because we are all part of the water cycle. You can't just opt out of that.

"And because all that's true, it becomes an issue of human rights. We all need safe water to drink even if we're drinking water out of bottles. If contaminants in drinking water that flows through our homes are being breathed in, and if those chemicals in the water are linked to diseases like cancer and birth defects or neurological poisons, then we have a problem and we need to address it from the issue of human rights."
