"What's wonderful about going out on the Mississippi River, even in the Twin Cities, and going down and walking along its banks or canoeing that river is that you have an immediate connection to something that is not human, that is the wildlife that use that river as a corridor. The water rushing past, the changes that are natural and man-made, you get a really tight connection to how the human world and the natural world interact. For city dwellers it's so important to be able to access the natural world and Minnesota's riverways make that possible."
